The Ever Changing Internet! The internet has been around ever since the 1960's however it was used only by government. The Internet was created because the government wanting an easier way to communicate with the world. It wasn't until the 1980's till the internet started making its way into smaller business's, and some residence house's. In the 1990's the internet was accessible to anyone who could afford it. (In 2011 Research stated that 2.2 Billion people have some form of the Internet. )(Wikipedia 1)
Not only has technology advanced in the last 50 years to where we went from only government having Internet to everywhere having it. The Internet it's self has advanced and so has where its accessible. In the 1980's when the internet started making its way into peoples companies and there house's, it was a very slow connection, you could only access the internet from a computer, and you was very limited to what you could do with the internet. In the 1990's the Internet was a little faster but still took you a good 30 minutes to load up any website or chatting devise. You also only had Internet access through the one computer you had hooked up to your phone line (this was called Dial-Up Connection) or an additional phone line you had put in just for internet because if you used your phone line that you was used for talking every time a call would come in it would kick you off the Internet. Now! If your house is anything like mine the phone rings all the time. So, after waiting awhile for a webpage or chatting site to load and then getting kicked off because a phone call is coming in, it gets very frustrating. Then in the early 2000's DSL came along and it was faster than Dial-Up but it was still through a phone line. However you had to have a separate phone line other than the one you used for talking. So, you still had to wait for it to boot-up and it would kick you off every now and then for no reason. Also, in the early 2000's, wifi, (the Wireless Internet Connection) was invented. Which meant you could now have more than one computer in your house with internet service on it. Then cable Internet came out. Cable internet enabled scientist who invent new technology to go crazy with ideas on how to connect people to the internet through just about any devise you could think of. |
Future of the Internet(Jamie Ford, CEO of Plusnet, said, "So far. the Internet has been all about sharing, communicating and engaging with content online. The next 15 years will see an exciting transformation take place, where we integrate smart devices into the home, and the net becomes much more about rich services. Since our launch 15 years ago we've moved from dial-up services to wireless connection transmitted through fibre optics at superfast speeds, yet our commitment to providing a reliable service at a competitive price remains the same. We intend to continue this pledge in years to come.) (Plusnet 1)
